Nigerian students, represented by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), have voiced their support for the Dangote Refinery project. They have described the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited’s (NNPCL) apparent efforts to undermine the refinery as a “great disservice to the nation’s economy.”

The students allege that the NNPCL management has attempted to bribe NANS leadership with $250,000 to discourage them from publicly backing the Dangote Refinery. However, after touring the refinery facility, the student leaders stated that they have a mandate from Nigerian students to assess the situation and provide their full support for the project.

The NANS Senate President, Akinteye Babatunde Afiz, stated that the refinery is of a world-class standard and has the potential to significantly benefit Nigeria’s economy by ending fuel imports. The students are calling on the government to direct all marketers to patronize the Dangote Refinery in order to alleviate the current fuel scarcity.

The students have expressed their belief that the NNPCL’s opposition to the Dangote Refinery is driven by a desire to undermine the success of Aliko Dangote, the project’s owner. The students have pledged their unwavering support for the Dangote Refinery and its successful operation.
